While modern pop music and traditional folk music have their niche audiences on radio Hungary, there is also another prominent music genre that dominates the airwaves of Hungary. The classical music of Hungary also has an important place in the music radio space.

Hungarian classical music includes a mix of external European influences, which were adopted by the Hungarian upper class in history. Nevertheless, the unique aspect of Hungarian classical music comes from the influences of Hungary's rural peasants. Towards the end of the nineteenth century, Hungarian classical music composers drew upon rural peasant music to create a special blend of classical music. This has led to folk themes within Hungary's classical music, and this is most evident in Hungary's most famous composers such as Kodaly and Bartok.
